How to remove your Nail Polish
It is a girl’s day and you do what girls like to do most. Pamper them. You may start out with sleeping in, a nice big breakfast, and getting yourself ready for the day. You go to grab your nail polish then something
happens. Oops! You drop the open bottle of nail polish on the carpet.
To anyone this can seem like a disaster. How do you get nail polish out of the carpet without having to cut it out? There are some easy steps to try to help remedy the situation. Followed closely, you may be able to save your carpet.
1. Pour dry cleaning fluid over the stain and let it soak for a minute
2. With a white clean cloth, blot dries it.
3. Apply a small amount of mild liquid detergent to the stain before it sets in.
4. Blot dries it once again with a cloth.
5. Saturate the carpet stain with water.
6. Blot dry the stain with a cloth again
7. With a very small amount of ammonia, pour it on the stain
8. Blot dries it again.
9. Apply more liquid detergent to the stain.
10. Blot dries again.
11. Saturate the area with water again and blot one last time.
Hopefully with these steps you will be successful in getting nail polish out of your carpet. You can purchase dry cleaning fluid from home supply stores, dry cleaners, and grocery stores.
It is important that before you use any of the cleaning solutions on the carpet to test them out in an area that can not be seen before applying them to a large obvious area. It is necessary to use a white cloth rather than a colored cloth because the dye from the cloth can transfer onto the carpet making it an even bigger mess.
When you blot out the stains, keep turning the cloth so that each time you blot you are using a clean, dry section to pick up the stain and the cleaning fluids from the carpet. Never rub it in! Rubbing it in can cause the stain to get deeper into the carpet, making removal harder.
Often times when people spill nail polish on their carpet, the first thing they grab is nail polish remover. This is not a good idea. Nail polish may bleach the carpet. The best way to try to get nail polish out of the carpet is by using the above steps.
